Swainsboro,
GA - On Saturday, August 16, 2008, Chesley and the 3
team took on the World of Outlaws at Screven Motor
Speedway. Dixon flexed his muscle early in the $10,000 to
win by qualifying in the eighth position, which put him on the
outside front row of the fourth heat. Dixon was able to
hold off Scott Shirey to pull off a heat race win gaining a
re-draw position with the top 8 from the night's event.
During the re-draw, Dixon drew the number three to start in the
third position of the night's 50-lap WoO feature event.
After Jeremy Faircloth jumped the start, WoO Officials put
Faircloth back a row granting the outside starting position to
Dixon. At the drop of the green flag, Dixon showed who was
boss by gaining the top position quickly and leading laps 1-6
when Jeremy Faircloth rallied back and took the top spot from
Dixon. Unfortunately, after a great start Dixon spun
coming off of turn two and brought out the caution flag and was
sent to the rear of the field. After earning entry into
one of the premier dirt series', Dixon found himself in the 20th
position at the conclusion of the 50-lap feature event.
Dixon
will now prepare to run with the O'Reilly Southern All Stars and
O'Reilly East Series for $10,000-to-win at Screven Motor
Speedway on September 13, 2008, where he would like to pick up a
win for his birthday and take the title away from Dennis
"Rambo" Franklin, who is the current Georgia State
Outlaw Champion. Dixon, who has been battling for the
point championship at Screven Motor Speedway, could also be
crowned as the 2008 Screven Motor Speedway Super Late Model
Point Champion on September 13, which would earn him a spot on
the 2009 Cruise with the Champions.
